I Dare You: Susie Bright Brings Forth A Sexy Game To Share With Your Lover
Valentine’s Day may be over, but we still strive to keep things spicy in our boudoir. While we like to keep things fun and imaginative, most so-called “sex games” are just novelty acts that look lame and can be found at any local mall. So it was much to my surprise when I was sent a simple, yet elegantly packaged set of “suggestion” cards from renowned author and “sexpert,” Susie Bright, that offered a much more playful take on the age-old “Truth or Dare” concept.
“I was always intrigued with the idea of a game for lovers” said Bright. “But most couples’ games I looked at were like walking into Ken and Barbie’s playhouse - surreal, fun for a second, but really awkward."
I wanted to see if I could create a game that didn’t stuff you in a pigeonhole. I wanted something hot, risky, imaginative but not patronizing. Is that too much to ask?
There’s plenty of risk and imagination to be found inside upon opening the box. After pulling a few cards from the sealed envelope, I soon found myself asked by my date about erotic fantasies that I have but would never under any circumstance do in real life and also being dared to put my plush headphones over her ears and play the song I think of when I have sex with her. Certainly these cards were already more thought-provoking then anything that could be found at say, Spencer’s Gifts.
“I love card decks of all kinds and especially card games,” Bright explained. “”One of my most treasured decks is a set of suggestion cards that (legendary music producer) Brian Eno wrote to (renowned artist) Peter Schmidt in the 1970s. Each card has an intuitive idea written on it and I found them inspiring, so I wanted to do a deck like his but one with an erotic motive.”
Pulling her inspiration for the series from “raw courage,” Bright has brought forth a game that can be played again and again. Each “dare” and “truth” go far deeper than you could possibly predict and you’ll soon find yourself and your partner in the throws of passion in nearly no time. You’ll also learn a lot about them too and that’s something that Susie strived for with the series.
As for her personal favorites?
“Half the cards are dares and half are questions but it’s the dares that definitely make me more nervous,” she shared. “Telling the truth is my comfort zone by comparison.”
“But it all depends on who’s playing, don’t you think?” she asked. “I designed these cards to that there would never be a ‘correct’ answer but I’d give anything to be a fly on the wall and see other people play the game. Now that would be my favorite!”
Besides all the great dares and thought-provoking truths, our favorite aspect to this seemingly simple game has to be the luxurious and stunning packaging that the cards come ensconced in. This isn’t one to be hidden underneath the bed or stowed away in the back of a closet, this game begs to be on full display.
“That’s second nature to me,” Bright said. “Listen, you’re talking to the girl who had to have the Mahogany Monopoly set. I am not indifferent to beauty."
I don’t go to a fruit stand and pick out a rotten apple, so if you’re going to make an erotic game then it should be delectable.
While Susie is certainly a certified “sexpert” in our eyes, we soon found that she’s also down to dabble in her fair share in sinful debauchery too.
“I had a Sazerac Mardi Gras party that got a little out of hand,” she recalled. “Is that gluttony or lust?”
Knowing Susie and the way her creative (and colorful) mind works, it’s probably a little bit of both. One thing’s for sure, we can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next. We can be certain that whatever it may be it’s guaranteed to be “sinfully seductive” to say the least.
