Using sex toy cleaner is a great way to keep toys clean, safe and bacteria-free. I’ve used two other toy cleaners before so this certainly isn’t my first. However, this one doubles as an intimate area cleaner which is slightly unusual and something I wasn’t expecting.
First impressions of this cleaner were good – the bottle looks lovely,a nice shiny metal gold and a decent size (75ml). I don’t like how it says ‘for erotic toys’ and has pictures of Fun Factory toys on the front because that makes this the total opposite of discreet – just a little warning for those who value discretion when it comes to sex toy essentials. There is no way you could leave this out on the bathroom sink without getting questioning looks from the whole household for days afterwards.
There are no instructions on how to use this – how long do I leave it on for? Do I rinse it with warm water or just wipe with a clean cloth? There is no way of knowing so I thought I’d decide as I go along. And I made the decision as soon as I got a whiff of this – the smell is terrible. I’m so used to toy cleaners smelling nice and fresh (like the LELO toy cleaner) but this does not smell good at all so I had to rinse it off. It smells like something I would clean the toilet with, not things I put inside my vagina.
I’m sure it does the job fine, because it claims to have an ‘anti-bacterial effect against germs and fungi’ but there is no way I’d use it on my intimate areas. The smell is one of the most noticeable things so it’s such a shame Fun Factory got it wrong.
I must admit I usually tend to wash my toys using hot water and soap because they’re all made out of safe and non-porous materials which means they don’t need any special treatment. This also means that I don’t need to use this cleaner often, but it’s nice to have an alternative to soap and water.
