OhMiBod Love Life Discover Rechargeable Mini Vibrator

OhMiBod Love Life Discover Rechargeable Mini Vibrator

DSC_0147a800I was asked to test the OhMiBod Mini Vibrator by Lovehoney. I don’t do classic vibrators but I thought this would pretty much be a bullet which I do like very much.

The Discover is an incredibly cute vibrator. It’s dinky and super-smooth although there are seams you can feel even though they’re pretty much invisible. The shaft fits in my fist, I can easily wrap my hand around it so it really is small. The head or handle looks like a dead anime character, which is a little bit creepy but cute at the same time. Personally, I absolutely love the packaging this toy comes in. It’s cute, it’s girly and definitely one of the nicest I’ve seen. But… it kind of looks like an adorable coffin.

This is USB rechargeable, and the instructions claim that it takes 2 hours to fully charge. I’m pretty sure mine took about 4 hours and never stopped flashing so I’m not sure what happened but there didn’t seem to be any problems during use. There isn’t a lock on this vibe per se but the wavy line (or mouth) needs to be pressed and held for a couple of seconds to activate the vibrations. You can then increase or decrease the speed of the vibrations using + and -. The wavy line also controls the patterns, which aren’t exactly fascinating – just the usual and weren’t impressive. I prefer to stick to continuous vibrations.

Once on I wouldn’t describe this as quiet at all but it’s not the loudest toy I’ve used either. I wouldn’t feel comfortable using this with other people in the house as I’m pretty sure they’d be able to hear everything. The vibrations are decent, although they feel pretty surface to me therefore I wasn’t expecting amazing orgasms after holding this in my hand.

When used clitorally I found that the vibrations in the tip were too weak for me even on the highest setting but they seemed to be more powerful about half way up therefore I used it sideways instead. The white, round head was perfect for holding the vibe during use because it enabled me to get a good grip on it and move the toy around to get the best results possible. The toy didn’t impress me at first, in fact I found it extremely uncomfortable because it seems to completely ABSORB lube. I lost count of the amount of times I had to re-apply lubricant so that it wouldn’t feel as if my clit was getting bruised. After use I found the toy looked completely clean – which is worrying because where did that lube go?! I’ve never had that happen with any other toys, even ones made out of silicone.

I decided to give this another go clitorally and again, I wasn’t impressed at first. But I applied tonnes of (water-based!) lube, so much that it was absolutely everywhere to make sure it would actually feel comfortable this time, and I was just about to give up when it actually started to feel good! I did manage to achieve a very quick orgasm, although it wasn’t satisfying and left me wanting to go again. I’m not sure if that was a lucky one-off because I have yet to get a repeat of that performance, not for the lack of trying.

When used internally, I found that the vibe slid in easily without any additional lubricant but was too small to reach anything. I like thrusting with my toys and the small size meant I wasn’t able to do that with this toy. I believe it would be fine to use internally if you wanted to just turn the vibrations on and leave it there but that simply didn’t work for me. I should also point out that this toy can’t be submerged in water so cleaning after using it internally was a nightmare as I had to be extremely careful.

The beautiful packaging this toy comes in sets high expectations which just weren’t matched by the toy itself. Sure, it’s nice but it’s too small to be used internally if I wanted to achieve any results and using it on my clitoris felt like I was punishing it for god knows what. I did get one good use out of it so I do hope I can manage to repeat that some day.

The Discover currently retails at £39.99 which is a reasonable price for a luxury, rechargeable vibrator. However, I feel like I would only recommend this to people who don’t need strong vibrations to climax – although I’m not a power queen at all and it just didn’t work for me. It’s a great little vibe that’s good for teasing but certainly doesn’t pack enough of a punch to be able to take me over the edge.

The OhMiBod Discover was sent to me as a free tester by Lovehoney – this has no effect whatsoever on my honest opinion of this toy.
